A slim, muscular male coyote slipped through the under-brush around the waterfalls. The black streaks going from the inner tip of his eyes to the sides of his muzzle stood out boldly from his orange pelt. Since he had grown older, A Rusty red had grown into his fur, scattered as if a hand had gathered powered colors and gently scattered them onto the teen's fur. It had taken him many years of training from his older brother, Shadow, to make him who he was. He stepped out onto the cool gray slate surrounding the cool, clear water. His paws were large and powerful, lined with slightly dulled claws. The orange-y color faded into a soothing tan as it worked its way onto his paws. Memories of his guardian and teacher flocked his head, as if dragging his spirits in the same direction as the water; down.

"Chase!" Shadow snapped. His patience was wearing thin. "Keep your legs, STRAIGHT!" Chase was getting tired of his 'Brothers' abusive training. "I AM!" He shouted back. Some times he wondered if he would have been better off without Shadow ever finding him. Shadow sighed, calming down. "Look," He said, coming forward to demonstrate. "You straighten your legs like this," He slid his left hind paw back a pace, placed his right front leg ahead of his left front by a pace, and straightened his tail. "Then when you launch forward to attack, you push off with your right front, bring your left front ahead to help you land quickly if you need to, then push off with both your hind legs at the same time." Shadow sprung forward, jaws gaping wide, with remarkable speed and precision. Chase, though he was still cross from being yelled at, watched what his brother had done closely. After Shadow had landed, he nodded as did exactly as his brother had told him. He shot forward, a little higher then Shadow (That's actually very important due to the fact that he's about two times smaller then him XD) and landed smoothly. Shadow smiled, "Very good!" He praised. Chase came up to him, grinning. "Now, why don't you go steal the two of us some lunch?" Shadow asked kindly. Chase ran off, pausing to snuggle his Brother affectionately on the chest, eager to sneak into a den and snatch a hare.

Chase smiled ironically; that had been the most important battle move he had learned his whole life. Though Shadow had been rough on him-struggling with his broken-heart and his loving adoration for Chase-he had been a good brother, and Chased had loved him dearly. Chase's dreamy-eyed smile faded into a pain filled frown. A slight hint of tears tickled his eyes as he remembered the horrid news he had heard about several years ago that changed his life forever: Shadow had some-how become crazed and sick in his mind and committed a suicide. Chase left the war grounds and crossed the mountains into the fertile-fields his mother had told him about before she was killed, where the sun always shone, the weather was warm, and everyone was nice to each other. Vines grew up the trees and hung with delicious purple fruits the locals around there had called, "Angel's Gifts". It had been a new approach to life for him, and he changed him inside and out. Love had found its way into his heart, and he felt a warmth he had never felt before deep inside him. Death had probably been a gift to Shadow, a release from his painful history and dieing consciousness. Chase sighed and plopped down on the warm rocks. The wind blew the mist from the waterfall in his direction, and he lifted his head toward the sky, drinking in the cool, embracing feeling of the moisture. The mist shrouded him like a cloak, rainbows dancing around him from the glittering sun above. A bitter-sweet peace rippled through Chase. The solitary feeling of teenage-hood seemed to get to him more then usual today. He had only got back a few days ago, and he wondered if any of his old friends still remembered him. A particular person was on his mind today; A Shibu-Inu named Fox. The two of them had been around the same age when they met, and he had heard she was now "Blind". He had to admit, he missed her. "Does she... still remember me..?" The loathsome male wondered aloud. He closed his eyes, immersing himself in his memories as the water calmly ran through the path it had cut into the rock.

In a shallow cavern, the sandy-brown ears of a sleeping dog suddenly pricked up. The canine lifted itself from the ground without opening its eyes and yawned. Fox stretched and prepared for the day. Then, she walked slowly out of the dent in the side of the waterfall. As always, she was cautious. After all, Fox couldn't have seen any dangers that there were. Fox felt...awkward today, somehow. Like something was going to happen. It didn't feel bad, exactly, but just an unusual and unnerving sense of anxiety that she hadn't felt for quite a while. 'What is it? why do I feel so anxious today? It wasn't like this yesterday...' she thought to herself. Fox strained her ears, trying to hear anything that could be a clue. Then she heard it. The whisper of a voice carried by the wind. she couldn't understand what it said but she knew that the voice was real. "What the..."

(Np. Razz)

Chase's ears swivled. He recognized that voice. Imidiatly drawing himself away from his thoughts, he lifted his head and looked around. "Fox?" He called out, starting to sit up. His eyes had changed color as he matured, and were now a calming ocean blue. Quickly scanning for the beautiful, sandy fur he remembered oh so well, his heart raced with a mix of powerful emotions he didn't ever remember feeling before. Then he saw it: A brown and orange pelt over by the waterfall. Chase froze nearly stone still, his heart pounding in his chest and also the fact that he didn't want to scare her by accident. (due to the fact that -from what he knows- she can't see.)

(sorry. mines short and dull. :U -shot- OOH LOOK A PENNY! Very Happy)

"Fox?"

This time, she heard it clearly. Fox. It said her name. Who's voice was it, though? Fox didn't recognize it. She opened her mouth slightly and tried to scent this canine, but they were downwind from where she stood. She'd need to get closer. With a deep breath, she moved a few steps closer to where she thought the canine would be, making sure not to walk off of a edge. Then she suddenly stopped. "Well? Who the hell are you and how do you know my name?" she snapped at the mysterious visitor, frustrated with how helpless she was.

Chase was slightly taken-aback by this comment. So... She doesn't remember me... He thought sadly. "Fox it's me, Chase; Shadow's little brother. He replied, trying not to let his sorrow leak through his voice, "Don't you remember me?" Chase waited calmly, knowing that she wouldn't hardly recognize him anyway even if she could see him. His ocean blue eyes had lost the majority of their glint; the shine that was left was from the little sunlight that just happened to his his eyes, along with a glimmer of hope. Maybe she DOES remember me, but just didn't recognize my voice? He questioned himself.
