if there's an official name for a cross breed can our pups be that? because if a coyote and a wolf mate and they will make a red wolf, or lab and poodle labradoodle

well, if its a Labrador/ Poodle mix. you do it like this:

Breed (wolf or dog): Labrador/ Poodle (Labradoodle)

you have to do it like that, or else you could mistake the parents for being ex. a Lapradoodle.

Actually, a red wolf is a whole different species. CoyoteXWolf crosses are called Coywolves

Blue is right. Red Wolves are not wolf and coyote mixes.

I know because I wanted to make one, but thankfully, I'm slowly learning self-control :3

My worst(as if I can remember all of them...)= Ulfang, Jayn(he's becoming 'good' though, I need a true evil one...), Keena, Blackfrost... I think that's it.

EDIT: Forgot Arrow. He's pretty bad, too.

Wikipedia 'Coywolf' wrote:
The coywolf is a term used to refer to hybrids between a Coyote (Canis latrans) and the Gray wolf (Canis lupus) or the Red wolf (Canis rufus). Some zoologists consider the Red wolf not to be a true species because it can hybridize with both the Gray Wolf and the Coyote. There is an argument that Gray Wolf/Coyote hybrids hamper conservation efforts. Their existence in the wild threatened the wolf's existence in North Carolina.

In other words, it may be, it may not be, no one knows.

Wikipedia 'Coyote' wrote:
Coyotes have also been known on occasion to mate with wolves though this less common as with dogs due to the wolf's hostility to the coyote. The offspring, known as a coywolf, is generally intermediate in size to both parents, being larger than a pure coyote, but smaller than a pure wolf. ...

...The red wolf is considered by some to be a wolf/coyote hybrid, due to its habit of readily mating with coyotes and the fact that it carries no unique genetic trait that would make it distinct from coyotes and gray wolves.
