Chaos folded her wings and descended into the den. She lay in the furthest corner. It had been a perfect, but tiring day.

Ulfang came a few minutes later. He padded into the den, curling up next to Chaos.

Chaos lifted her head, and lay it on Ulfang. She closed her eyes slowly, thinking about the day.

He felt Chaos's head lay on him. He smiled and closed his eyes, his ears twitching occasionally, listening to the small breeze outside.

Chaos's eyes flitted open as a slight movement outside disturbed her. Something was moving through the brush; fast.

Ulfang's ears flicked towards the den entrance. He heard something and noticed that chaos did, too.

Ulfang looked at his mate. "Did you hear that?" he asked, even though he was sure she did.

Ulfang's neck fur bristled and he crept out of the den quietly, looking for what was lurking outside.

Chaos twitched her wings, and followed Ulfang outside. Stopping halfway out, she heard the rustling again. It couldn't have been the wind...

Ulfang was starting to worry. He knew that whatever it was, the could probably handle it, but there was an ominous feeling that made him nervous.

Chaos smelled something odd in the air. It was strong, and it was like inhaling dust. Smoke. "Ulfang, run! We need to get out of here!"

Ulfang ran out of the den, but stopped a few yards away, making sure Chaos could make it out of the den.

Chaos scurried out of the den. She ran to Ulfang, and looked around the forest. Surely enough, flames were moving quickly towards them, destroying everything in its path.
